La diputada Carmen Chan Mora, Coordinadora del Bloque de Diputados de Nueva República envió oficio solicitándole al presidente de la República, el señor Carlos Alvarado, que convoque en este periodo de sesiones extraordinarias de la Asamblea Legislativa, el proyecto de Ley 19.732 Impuesto del 5% sobre la venta y autoconsumo de cemento, producido en el territorio nacional o importado, para consumo nacional.
La legisladora explicó que el proyecto procura enmendar vacíos que contiene la ley actual, ya que en estos momentos solo se regula el impuesto de venta del cemento, en una parte del territorio nacional, beneficiándose de manera exclusiva las provincias Cartago, San José, Alajuela y Guanacaste.

Esta iniciativa de Ley —apuntó— abre la posibilidad de fortalecer económicamente los cantones de la provincia de Puntarenas, potenciar inversiones y mejorar la calidad de vida de la población.
“En general, busca dirigir recursos económicos de manera más proporcional y justa —del impuesto ya existente con la Ley 6849— a las municipalidades y otras instituciones, a fin de que se potencie la inversión pública en áreas de infraestructura, educación y desarrollo comunal”.
